University of North Carolina Tar Heels Basketball Posters – March Madness

March Madness is the time for everyone to debate who is the best team in the country with Kansas, Memphis, UCLA and UNC as the usual teams discussed, but as the #1 seed in the country, for both the pre season and entering the tournamant, the UNC Tar Heels are my pick as the best team and hopefully this year’s NCAA tournament champion.

The University of North Carolina Tar Heels’ men’s basketball program is among the most prominent and successful college basketball programs in the nation.  The Tar Heels have won four NCAA National Championships and 16 ACC Championships. One of the most historic moments in the history of the NCAA tournament was when Michael Jordan hit the game winning shot in the National Championship game versus Georgetown in 1982.

 UNC Hero

“UNC Hero” captures this historic moment from the moment of release of that game-winning shot at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, with Patrick Ewing and 3 other Georgetown defenders looking hopelessly on.

The most recent and last (until this year I hope) championship was won in 2005 which was led by current NBAers Raymond Felton, Sean May and Rashad McCants.

“2005 National Champions Panorama”  is the perfect image from that game.

This poster is now out of print, so act fast as the Sports Poster Warehouse has 15 left as of today.  Once these 15 posters are sold, it will be sold out for good.

The University of North Carolina has a long history as one of the winningest college basketball teams in the United States.  One of my favorite items at the Sports Poster Warehouse, and a must for any true-blue Tar Heels fan, is “Carolina Blue: 50 Years of Greatness”:

Carolina Blue

This poster celebrates the history of Tar Heels hoops with portraits of a dozen of the most significant figures in the history of the school – clockwise from top-left, Bob McAdoo, James Worthy, Sean May, Phil Ford, Raymond Felton, Lennie Rosenbluth, Billy Cunningham, and Antawn Jamison, with coaches Frank McGuire, Dean Smith, Roy Williams, at centre, and of course, the greatest of all, Michael Jordan, standing out above all the rest.  Lennie Rosenbluth himself ordered a copy of this print.

North Carolina made everything look easy in its first two NCAA tournament games this year, from running out to big early leads to cracking the 100-point mark with plenty of time left on the clock.  Good luck to the Heels this Friday against Washington State.  If they play like they did in the first two rounds, they should easily get to the Final Four.

 Go Tar Heels!!!
