Winter. Snow. Patriotism. Hockey. Sidney Crosby.
It was a day that had a little bit of everything – an electric crowd of more than 71,000 fans at Buffalo’s Ralph Wilson Stadium, lots of snow and some great end-to-end hockey.
The memories will last forever because this wasn’t a game. It was an event treated as if were the Super Bowl of hockey. To cap it off, the NHL got its Hollywood finish: Sidney Crosby pumping his fists and celebrating his game-winning, shootout goal, the one sent to the Penguins to a 2-1 victory.
Sidney Crosby is believed by many to have innate talent comparable to that of Wayne Gretzky and one day may break Gretzky’s NHL scoring records, an assessment that has led to the nickname, The Next One.
